A Fort Bend County teenager has been arrested and accused of shooting his mother to death in Richmond on Thursday night.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said 19-year-old Herald Monono has been charged with murder and is being held on a $250,000 bond, according to a news release from the department.
The victim, 47-year-old Yolanda Royston, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FBCSO.
The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the 18100 block of Emerybrook Court in Richmond around 9:20 p.m. Thursday to find Royston inside the house with a gunshot wound.
A short time later, FBCSO said the Alvin Police Department located Moreno’s vehicle, and he was arrested following a short pursuit, according to police.
Police said it is not known what led up to the alleged shooting.
“Our hearts go out to the family and neighbors who have been affected by this tragedy,” Sheriff Eric Fagan said.
