Deputies with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies are investigating reports that a sergeant with the office shot a man while working a private security job in Needville over the weekend, according to a news release.

The man was killed in the officer-involved shooting, according to multiple media reports.

A deputy is accused of shooting someone at a private event at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Needville, according to the release.

The deputy encountered another man who had a knife and declined to drop it, the sheriff’s office alleged.

Representatives for the sheriff’s office, the Texas Rangers and the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident, according to the release.

Investigators are working with several witnesses and are also reviewing several videos, which the sheriff’s office declined to release Monday, according to the release.
