Fort Bend ISD’s Board of Trustees last week conducted the first round of interviews for a new superintendent to replace Charles Dupre, who resigned.

The district will not release a list of who all is being considered to replace Dupre until the board of trustees names a lone finalist – something that should happen later in August, said Sherry Williams, a spokesperson for the district.

Dupre announced in November 2020 he planned to resign by December 2021. He since stepped down.

Diana Sayavedra has been serving as the acting superintendent since Dupre left.

The search to replace Dupre, who was first hired in 2013, has been beset with a few delays. The board in June approved a revised schedule that could delay the superintendent search between one and three months, according to Board President Dave Rosenthal.
